sleepless soul.

My spirit floats in the city, while I sleep Dancing in Avenues & parkways Elevating over houses & lampposts In dreams I live in worlds, but then I die And awaken to a star-crossed lie that stops my breathing for a second... From the sound of a clock Eyes open wide & stare at a ceiling There is no feeling... Numbness on my toes Nothing above my nose Just simple agony Frozen in my body

Superb photo. Your poem planted me in the center of it.

I felt as if I were the avenues, parkways, houses and lamposts...as well as the sparkling lights...ten million shining stars in a sea of human plight.

Life is there, and not there.
No feeling, only reeling.
Numbness of toes, it goes.
Nothing above or below your nose. (Blow your nose) LOL

Your poem could describe the plight of people caught up in the busyness of life who don't even have time to think or even really be. So their subconsious self starts expressing itself in their dreams. And when they awake, they feel lost.

When I am most busy, that is when it is essential that I take the most breaks even if it is only for ten or fifteen minutes at a time.

Thanks Windowtomymind, my school is on a hill overlooking the city and we get a great view of the "ten million shining stars in a sea of people." The juxtaposition of the lights and the darkness seems almost organic to me when I stare long enough. LOl...if you provide the tissue I'll blow my nose.

Tim, your interpretation is beautifully worded. That is definately what I was trying to say. I'm follwing your advice right now because at the moment I'm taking a minute away from analyzing these Beatle lyrics for my poetry class and having a "Green Tea Break"
